Short Breaks Fund

We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded funding for 2026-7 from the Short Breaks Fund to support children with additional support needs and their parent /carers.  This fund will enable children and young people to spend time with their worker doing fun activities – having new experiences and exporing new places of interest.  This also enables parent / carers to have some much needed time to do something for themselves that will  recharge thier batteries This will be greatly welcomed by families in Edinburgh who have one or more children with a disability and who are not able to access any support or respite themselves as parents/ carers.

Children and Families

With funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and Children in Need for 3 years we are able to deliver support to children and families in need in their own homes and local community to help them become more resilient

Health & Wellbeing 

Funded through EVOC Community Health & Wellbeing Fund the group meets Mondays during term time for activities and peer support.

Time 4 Mum

Time 4 Mum provides 1:1 support and encouragement to Mums who have childcare in place to explore and take up activities and interests of their own that help them reconnect to who they are and feel less isolated. A mum who benefitted from this service said ” its a bit like learning to drive – you need to have someone beside you in the car until you feel able to do it on your own” We continue to actively seek funding to enable this very successful project to continue and develop

Funding for carers and the people they care for

Direct funding for families is available through the Family Fund. Their programme is called Take a Break. Eligible families in Scotland, caring for disabled children and young people, will be able to apply directly to the Fund for financial help to arrange a short break. More information on how to apply can be found at http://www.takeabreakscotland.org.uk.

The Family Fund is a national fund and open to families with children up to the age of 17. Individual applications can be made for a range of items that will help young people and their families such as washing machines, technology, etc .
